In Memory Of...

It seems like yesterday that our healthy 23 year-old daughter, Erin, entered the hospital for elective surgery. Five days later she was gone. A victim of Sepsis.

Mission

The Sepsis Alliance is dedicated to education, early recognition, effective management and ultimately, a cure for sepsis. To achieve these goals, the Alliance is rapidly developing programs for two constituencies: healthcare professionals and the public.

Utilizing Web 2.0 collaborative techniques, the Sepsis Alliance and the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research seek to build a worldwide effort to track and define Sepsis in order to enable development of a cure. This will be accomplished with "Sepsis Watch," a system that will link advanced medical systems and caregivers in the west with those battling sepsis in the third-world.

Ultimately, individuals concerned about a loved one in the home, or functioning as a patient advocate in a hospital setting, will be able to access the database, easily enter relevant data points (blood pressure, temperature, etc.) and, upon algorithmic detection by the database of a potentially Septic Event, be automatically alerted.
