Nursing Class Donates to SA in Memory of Instructor's Mother

In early November 2011, Sepsis Alliance received an email from Suzanne Galas, a student at the Stanislaus State School of Nursing. Her group's nursing instructor, Sherri Brown, had just lost her mother, Patricia Brown, to sepsis.

The students wanted to do something for their instructor and they had learned of Sepsis Alliance, so they asked if they could make a donation to SA, in Patricia's name. All they asked in return was a certificate they could present to Sherri. They made the presentation on the last day of "clinicals," the period when nursing students go into the field to practice for hands-on experience. According to Suzanne, "Our instructor was moved to tears and once she realized what it was, was completely speechless!"

Many thanks from SA to the students for both the donation and for the help in spreading the word about sepsis and Sepsis Alliance.
