Sepsis Awareness Month 2011

Sepsis Victim Counter

You may have heard the statistic that there is one death from sepsis every 2.5 minutes in the United States, but did you know that every 27 seconds, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with sepsis? How about globally? Around the world, every 1.75 seconds, someone is diagnosed with severe sepsis, sepsis that has progressed and is causing even more severe illness, organ shut down, and often, death.

Watch the Sepsis Victim Counter on the front page of the site to see how quickly the numbers add up. Beginning September 1 to the end of the month, the counter will keep track of the number of people who are diagnosed with severe sepsis throughout the world.
